This document explains all of the settings available in Mozilla Firefox for controlling pop-ups.

In this video I'm gonna share a simple way to stop random MSN homepage pop-ups in chrome(usually).Don't worry this is not because of some malware its beca. Select the pop-up blocker. Tap the dom.disableopenduringload section to expand it. You should see the pop-up blocker's status (which should be 'true') listed on the left side of the screen. If the status says 'false' instead, your Firefox browser is already blocking pop-ups.
- Disable Pop-up Blocker On Safari. Safari is Apple MacOS X specific browser. Like most of the other popular browsers, the pop-ups blocker is enabled by default and in order to show pop-ups, the blocker should be disabled. Safari built-in pop-ups blocker can be disabled from Options-Block Pop-up Windows.
- Watch a 1:54 minute video about pop-up alerts (notifications) Turn alerts on or off. Tip: If you want to keep a Desktop Alert visible so that you can take more time to read it, rest the pointer over the alert before it fades from view. Select File Options Mail.
- Go to “Block Pop-ups” and turn it on. Since the Safari pop up blocking settings does not work on other browsers, you can opt for this to stop pop-ups on chrome without any extra works. Although Google Chrome’s options to stop pop up ads will not remove ads from the visiting websites. Related: How to Remove Cookies From iPhone.
Pop-up windows, or pop-ups, are windows that appear automatically without your permission. They vary in size but usually don't cover the whole screen. Some pop-ups open on top of the current Firefox window, while others appear underneath Firefox (pop-unders).
Firefox allows you to control both pop-ups and pop-unders in Firefox OptionsPreferences. Pop-up blocking is turned on by default, so you don't have to worry about enabling it to prevent pop-ups from appearing in Firefox.
When blocking a pop-up, Firefox displays an information bar (if it hasn’t been previously dismissed – see below), as well as an icon in the address bar.
When you click either the button in the info bar or the icon in the address bar, a menu is displayed with the following choices:
- Allow/Block pop-ups for this site
- Edit Pop-up Blocker OptionsPreferences…
- Don't show this message when pop-ups are blocked
- (show the blocked pop-up)
To access the pop-up blocker settings:
- Click the menu button and select ..
- Select the Privacy & Security panel.
- Under the Permissions section, uncheck the box next to Block pop-up windows to disable the pop-up blocker altogether.
- A click on opens a dialog box with a list of sites that you want to allow to display pop-ups.
- The dialog box offers you the following choices:
- Allow: Click this to add a website to the exceptions list.
- Remove Website: Click this to remove a website from the exceptions list.
- Remove All Websites: Click this to remove all of the websites in the exceptions list.
Is the pop-up coming from Firefox?
The pop-up may not actually be coming from Firefox. You can determine where the pop-up is coming from by the appearance of the window.
- If you see the address bar with the Site Info buttonthe Tracking Protection button and the Site Identity button (a shield and a padlock) in the pop-up window, the pop-up is coming from Firefox.
- If you don't see the buttonthese buttons, you may have malware on your computer that causes the pop-ups. For help, see Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.
Is the pop-up blocker on and enabled for this site?
- Click the menu button and select ..
- Select the Privacy & Security panel and go to the Permissions section.
- Make sure the Block pop-up windows checkbox is checked.
- To the right of Block pop-up windows, click the button. A dialog box will open with a list of sites that are allowed to show pop-ups.
- If the site that's opening pop-ups is listed here, select it and press .
- Click on to update your changes.
- Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.
Is the pop-up shown after a mouse click or a key press?
Certain events, such as clicking or pressing a key, can spawn pop-ups regardless of if the pop-up blocker is on. This is intentional, so that Firefox doesn't block pop-ups that websites need to work.
Is it a true pop-up window?
Sometimes ads are designed to look like windows, but really aren't. Firefox's pop-up blocker can't stop these ads.
Mozilla surveys

When you visit a Mozilla website, sometimes you'll see a pop-up asking you to participate in a survey. The only third-party that Mozilla ever uses for surveys is SurveyGizmo, which has been vetted by our legal and privacy teams. The Firefox pop-up blocker doesn't block these pop-ups.

Internet Explorer 9
- At the upper right, click the Tools icon, and select Internet options.
- Click the Privacy tab.
- Check or uncheck Turn on Pop-up Blocker.

Internet Explorer 8 and 7
- From the Tools menu, select Pop-up Blocker.
- Click to select either Turn Off Pop-up Blocker orTurn On Pop-up Blocker.
By default, Internet Explorer displays pop-ups that appear as a resultof clicking a link or button. Pop-up Blocker blocks pop-ups that aredisplayed automatically (without your clicking a link or button). Toallow a specific web site to display automatic pop-ups:
- Click Tools, select Pop-up Blocker, and thenclick Pop-up Blocker Settings.
- In the 'Address of website to allow' box, type the address (or URL)of the web site you want to see pop-ups from, and then click Add.
- Repeat step 2 for every web site you want to allow pop-upsfrom. When you are finished adding web sites, click Close.
Firefox
- In Windows, from the Tools menu, selectOptions...
If the menu bar is hidden, press

to make itvisible.In Mac OS X, from the Firefox menu, select Preferences...
- Click Content.
- Check or uncheck Block Popup Windows.
When blocking a pop-up, Firefox displays an information bar, as well asan icon in the status bar. When you click either the Optionsbutton in the information bar or the icon in the status bar, a menu isdisplayed with the following choices:

Note: If you select Edit Popup BlockerOptions, you can then click Exceptions next to 'Blockpop-up windows' and enter the URLs for any sites on which you wish toallow pop-ups.

Safari
From the Safari (in Mac OS X) or Edit (in Windows)menu, select Block Pop-Up Windows.
Google Chrome
- At the upper right, click the wrench icon, and select Settings (Preferences in Mac OS X and Linux).
- Click Under the Hood.
- In the 'Privacy' section, click Content settings....
- In the 'Pop-ups' section, select Allow all sites to show pop-ups or Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended). To customize permissions for specific websites, click Manage exceptions.
